FAQs on Floor Beds for Toddlers
Have you heard of house frame floor beds for kids? They look adorable with their house frame shape and are easy to accessorize for your child’s room. That being said…when people see my daughters floor bed, they are often thrown for a loop. Sleeping on the floor is a unique concept in the U.S. even though it’s very common in other parts of the world. Here are some of the most common questions people ask me.
Does your daughter stay in her bed?
No…she doesn’t. That’s the point of a toddler floor bed. Your child is free to get up and explore her environment. Most nights my daughter is tired and will fall asleep in her bed quickly. Sometimes she isn’t tired and will roam around and play in her room for a little while. The great part of having this bed is that she’s developed the ability to put herself to sleep when she is ready to go to bed.
How do you keep your daughter in her room at night?
Consistency is key with this one. The first few nights she would get out of her bed, and we would carry her right back to her room and lay her down. After two or three nights of this she got the idea, and we haven’t had a problem since. Sometimes when we have family visit or she gets off her schedule, she needs a reminder to stay in bed. But for the most part she stays in her bed.
Would you use a floor bed with your next child?
I would definitely use a floor bed again and plan to use one with our next child. I think the key is knowing your child and listening to their needs. A floor bed might not work for every child and it’s important to be flexible if it’s not the right fit for your little one. Remember that it’s okay to try the floor bed and then change it up for awhile if it isn’t working. Hopefully you could come back to it again as your child changes and grows. Do what is best for you and your child.
Where did you buy the bed from?
We purchased our bed online from Custom Kids Furniture. I would highly recommend their Sophia bed, as we purchased a bed on a Monday and had it up and assembled on Friday of the same week. The other shops I found that sell this bed are on Etsy and they custom build the bed which takes about six weeks.
My husband and I worked together on the assembly and it took us about two hours. It was fairly straight forward, and not too difficult (for furniture assembly). The bed was reasonably priced and the quality was good.
Is the bed sturdy? I’ve heard these can be wobbly?
I get this question a lot. I’m not sure about some of the beds being wobbly, but the one we bought isn’t. We’re happy with it and it is sturdy.
